Responsibility

Responsibility is the duty to recognize as our own the decisions we make or do not take, the actions we take or fail to take and the consequences that derive from them.

Respect

Respect is our duty to show consideration for ourselves, others and the resources entrusted to us. The resources entrusted to us may include people, money, reputation, the safety of others, and natural or environmental resources.

Fairness

Fairness is the duty to make decisions and act impartially and objectively. Our conduct must be free from personal interests, prejudices and favoritism.

Responsibility: Reference standards
As a professional in the global Project Management community:
2.1 We make decisions and act on the basis of the best interests for society, public safety and the environment.
2.2 We only accept assignments that are consistent with our training, experience, abilities, skills and professional qualifications.
2.3 We honor the commitments we have made by doing what we have declared we do.
2.4 When we make errors or omissions, we acknowledge them and promptly make corrections. When we discover errors or omissions caused by others, we inform the competent body as soon as we become aware of them. We accept the obligation to account for our errors or omissions and any related consequences.
2.2.5 We protect proprietary or confidential information entrusted to us.
2.2.6 We uphold this code and hold each other responsible.

Respect: Reference standards
As a professional in the global Project Management community:
3.1.1 We inform ourselves about the uses, customs and habits of others and avoid behaviors that can be considered non-respectful.
3.1.2 We listen to the point of view of others, trying to understand them.
3.1.3 We address people directly with whom we have a conflict or disagree.
3.1.4 We maintain professional conduct even when it is not reciprocated.

Respect: Mandatory standards
As professionals in the global Project Management community, we require of ourselves and our colleagues the following:
3.2.1 We conduct negotiations in good faith.
3.2.2 We do not use the power related to our skills or position to influence the decisions and actions of others or to benefit personally at their expense.
3.2.3 We have no offensive behavior towards others.
3.2.4 We respect the property rights of others.

As a professional in the global Project Management community:
3.1 We demonstrate transparency in our decision-making processes.
3.2 We constantly review our impartiality and objectivity, taking corrective measures if necessary.
